Professor Garfield Video Newsletter

Transport to Reading
Orson's Farm

"Meeting the Animals" was very cute, prompting kids by hiliting barn was good
Idea: rhyming words rhyme b/c ending part sounds the same

For me, there could have been more letters/words displayed. Also, when mouse is hovered over the barn (back button), there could be a verbal reminder of what the link is for lower grades.

I had a problem with the barn (back arrow). It's in a different place on each activity. On browsers, the back button is on the left. In keeping with this, the barn should be on the left side in each activity to reinforce web 2.0 skills.

Orson's waller
Throughout this activity, although very cute, worksheets for portfolios - or online method of collecting data was in the back of my mind. In this activity, I would have liked to see the word flash on the screen in a speech bubble

Oddity task
I thought this was an activity about what is different?, etc.
but it was really about beginning sounds. Again, no reinforcement of letters/words visually.

The hayloft

Sorry, but again, not enough display of words to reinforce memory of audio to visual.

Lanolin's greenhouse
Good activity. for some kids who might not have the background for certain word pictures, this can be difficult

I do like the fact that you can hover over the possibilities and hear the word before you make a choice. This is my favorite part of the activities so far.

The music is a LOT monotonous

Pumpkin patch
Uh oh! In looking for the activity, I'd mistakenly closed the tab. When I got back into it, I was in knowlege box for some reason. I would not find this main site with all the tools until I changed the url to the .org

that's the home page
